Protaras

With some of the best watersports on the island, holidays in Protaras are definitely for those who like to make a splash. That being said, it's considerably quieter than its fun-loving neighbour, Ayia Napa. So, it's a good choice for families and couples looking for uninterrupted relaxation.

It's a purpose built resort that's fairly compact, with most of the hotels, bars and restaurants scattered around Fig Tree Bay and Pernera Beach. So, whether you've booked an all inclusive package well in advance or a last minute holiday, you're likely to be close to the beach and within easy walking distance of the resort's main 'after dark' facilities. There's also a wide range of establishments to choose from. So, if it's a traditional taverna and some bouzouki music that gets you going, or you prefer belting out a soul song in a karaoke bar, you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the most easterly resorts in South Cyprus. But holidays in Protaras don't mean being out on a limb. There are regular bus services not only to Ayia Napa, but also to Paralimni and Larnaca, where you can soak up some history and have a large dose of retail therapy.
